Founded in 1983, Swan Christian College is a co-educational Christian school in Swan Valley, educating around 1,600 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The College focuses on developing character and academic excellence with Christ-centred education that nurtures the spiritual, academic, emotional, and social growth of every student.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Café Cook / All-Rounder to join our Catering Team in a part-time (0.6 FTE) fixed-term position until the end of 2026, with the possibility of ongoing employment.

This role is more than preparing meals — it is about creating a welcoming environment where food, service, and community come together. The successful candidate will contribute to the College’s catering vision by delivering high-quality food and customer service while supporting a positive and engaging café experience for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve high-quality hot and cold food items in accordance with Australian Food Standards.
  • Provide friendly, attentive, and efficient customer service.
  • Assist with menu preparation and contribute ideas under the guidance of the Catering Manager.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness, food safety, stock control, and HACCP procedures.
  • Receive and check deliveries, ensuring quality and correct storage practices.
  • Complete daily cleaning and end-of-shift procedures.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and support students participating in the hospitality traineeship program.
  • Assist with café operations including kitchen hand duties and potential barista shifts (training available).

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and active involvement in a Christian church.
  • Lives in alignment with SCEA’s Statement of Faith, Foundational Beliefs, and Educational Objectives.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP procedures.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Strong organisational skills with a proactive and safety-conscious approach.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and carry food and equipment as required.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to follow direction.
  • Holds a current Working with Children Card and Department of Education Criminal History Check, or willingness to apply.

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  • Bulk cooking experience.
  • Barista experience or willingness to undertake training.
  • Friendly, positive, and customer-focused attitude.
