About the Role:

Reporting to the Business Manager, the Finance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Finance Department, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll. Working closely with the Business Manager, you will oversee the College’s financial operations, prepare management and statutory reports, coordinate budgeting and audits, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead the continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.

You will also provide leadership, mentoring and support to the Finance team while helping ensure the College’s financial resources are managed with excellence, integrity and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and Board reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of the College budget.
  • Coordinate the annual audit and prepare audit working papers.
  • Prepare and review BAS, FBT, payroll and other statutory reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with taxation, accounting standards and financial regulations.
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and family debtor management.
  • Review reconciliations, journals, supplier payments and payroll processing.
  • Support the development and review of financial systems, policies and procedures.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Finance team through performance reviews and professional development.
  • Contribute to strategic financial planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Uphold and actively support the Christian ethos and values of the College.

About You:

You are an experienced finance professional with strong leadership skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work. This is a hands-on role where you will lead by example, working alongside your team while overseeing the College’s day-to-day financial operations. You enjoy building capable teams, improving processes, and providing reliable financial information that supports sound decision-making. You thrive in a busy environment, effectively managing competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.

You will bring:

  • A personal Christian faith and lifestyle consistent with the College’s ethos and values.
  • Degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • Current CA, CPA or IPA membership (or working toward).
  • Demonstrated experience in a Finance Manager or senior accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, audit and compliance.
  • Experience managing payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • High levels of integrity, confidentiality and attention to detail.
  • Experience using accounting and payroll systems (school finance experience will be highly regarded).

Additional Requirements

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Hold (or obtain) a current Working with Children Check.
  • Provide a National Police Clearance (less than three months old).
  • Complete Child Safety training during induction if required.
  • Have the right to live and work in Australia (VEVO checks will apply).
