Junior School Teacher – Year 4

Founded in 1983, Swan Christian College is a co-educational Christian school in Swan Valley, educating around 1,600 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The College focuses on developing character and academic excellence through its values of respect, integrity, spirituality, and excellence.

Swan Christian College is seeking a passionate and dedicated Junior School Teacher to join our Junior School team, teaching a Year 4 classroom. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing 31 August 2026, or as negotiated.

The successful candidate will teach a Year 4 class, delivering engaging, evidence-based learning within a collaborative, Christ-centred environment. You will support students’ academic, personal, and spiritual growth, fostering a positive classroom community and a love of learning.

• Integrate faith and learning through a strong commitment to Christian Education.

• Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching and assessment that supports student growth.
• Differentiate learning to meet diverse student needs and maximise achievement.
• Provide proactive pastoral care and maintain strong communication with students, families, and colleagues.
• Commit to professional growth while upholding College policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.

Selection Criteria: Essential:

• Demonstrates a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and is an active member of a Christian Church, living in accordance with the Association’s Statement of Faith and Educational Objectives.
• The ability to build and maintain strong healthy relationships between families, the SCEA Head Office staff and the College, using exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions in a narrow timeframe.
• Highly organised with the ability to effectively prioritise workloads, demonstrate initiative, and follow direction to achieve positive outcomes.
• Current Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) registration and a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to apply.

Desirable: (Include where appropriate in your response)

• Experience with DSF Talk for Reading and Talk for Writing programs.
• An understanding of different learning styles and how that impacts the delivery of differentiated programs.
• Experience in learning technology in a classroom context and experience in managing an Apple Classroom.
• Familiarity with restorative behaviour management approaches and strategies.
