The Opportunity
Carey Baptist College Forrestdale, a private coeducational Christian school with open enrollment, is seeking a dynamic leader for the key role of Head of Department (HOD) – Health, Outdoor, and Physical Education (HOPE). This is an ongoing, full-time position starting January 2025.
Our campus, nestled within beautiful bushland, offers a unique environment that enhances student learning through an innovative approach to education.
The HOD for HOPE is responsible for guiding and managing the curriculum for Health, Outdoor, and Physical Education across Years 7 to 12. This role ensures a dynamic program aligned with the College’s mission and strategic goals, overseeing curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation to meet diverse student needs.
In addition to the excitement surrounding the opening of our new Multipurpose Sports Hall and upgraded field, the successful candidate will oversee the creation of our new Specialist Basketball and Specialist Volleyball programs. This role combines 0.8 teaching and a 0.2 HOD FTE which includes leading health and physical education programs, including extracurricular activities that promote student well-being and fitness.

Beyond curriculum leadership, the HOD will mentor and support staff within the Health and Physical Education department, promote professional development, and encourage innovative teaching practices.
