WE ARE HIRING Student Services Coordinator Location: Wongutha CAPS, Gibson, Western Australia Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Commencement: Term 3, 20th July 2026   About Wongutha CAPS Wongutha CAPS is a unique Christian secondary boarding school located on a beautiful farm site in Gibson (near Esperance), WA. We are dedicated to providing a supportive, culturally safe, and practical education for Aboriginal students from regional and remote communities. Our mission is to equip young people with the education, vocational skills, and spiritual foundation they need to step confidently into their futures.   The Opportunity We are seeking a servant-hearted, proactive Student Services Coordinator to lead our whole-school wellbeing strategy. Working closely with the Deputy Principal, you will provide critical, trauma-informed pastoral care that bridges the gap between day-school learning, boarding life, and family support. If you are passionate about youth mental health, enjoy working in a collaborative, mission-minded team, and want to make a profound difference in the lives of Indigenous youth, we want to hear from you.   Key Responsibilities Strategic Wellbeing Leadership: Head the Wongutha Student Wellbeing Program and chair weekly multidisciplinary team meetings.   Direct Student Support: Act as a trusted first point of contact for students, delivering short-term evidence-based counselling, emotional regulation strategies, and restorative practices.   Risk & Incident Management: Lead collaborative interventions for at-risk students, conduct formal risk assessments, and work alongside school leadership to handle critical incidents.   Transition & Family Connection: Support new student induction through a targeted socio-emotional orientation curriculum and maintain strong, supportive communication with families.   Staff Capacity Building: Mentor and resource classroom teachers, trainers, and boarding staff in trauma-informed care and positive psychology.   Compliance & Governance: Maintain meticulous, secure student records in strict accordance with child safety standards and mandatory reporting obligations. Selection Criteria Qualifications: Tertiary degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Youth Work, or an Education degree with specialised pastoral care experience.   Cultural Responsiveness: Deep respect for, and experience supporting, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and young people from remote communities.   Relational Heart: Exceptional ability to build rapid, genuine rapport and trust with adolescents, navigating complex emotional situations with empathy and clarity.   Knowledge Base: Strong working knowledge of trauma-informed care and growth-focused behaviour support models.   Christian Alignment: A commitment to support and uphold the Christian ethos and values of Wongutha CAPS.   Compliance: A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Clearance (or immediate eligibility).   How to Apply Join a dedicated team making a tangible, generational difference.   Please forward your current resume, and a copy of your registrations to: Human Resources, Wongutha CAPS 📧 ea@wonguthacaps.wa.edu.au 📞 08 9075 4011 🌐 https://www.wonguthacaps.wa.edu.au/ Applications close: 19th June 2026
