WE ARE HIRING Deputy Principal & Teacher / Trainer (Dual Role) Location: Wongutha CAPS, Gibson, Western Australia Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Commencement: Term 3, 20th July 2026   About Our School Wongutha CAPS is a unique secondary boarding school located in the beautiful Esperance region. We provide an authentic, supportive, and practical learning environment for Aboriginal students from regional and remote communities across Western Australia.   Grounded in a strong Christian ethos, our campus bridges academic excellence with vocational training and “training for life.”   The Opportunity We are seeking an inspirational, culturally competent leader to step into a dynamic dual portfolio. As Deputy Principal, you will work closely with the Principal to lead our pastoral care frameworks (Choose Respect & Restorative Practices), oversee student discipline. Crucially, you will lead from the front. A portion of your week will see you step directly into the classroom or workshop as a Teacher or VET Trainer.     Key Portfolios & Responsibilities Cultural & Pastoral Leadership: Lead culturally secure, trauma-informed wellbeing programs and whole-school behaviour support. Operational Oversight: Directly line-manage the Tuesday Program and Workplace Learning (WPL) Coordinators, tracking engagement both onsite and in town. Instructional Excellence: Deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching or VET certificate lines, maintaining administrative compliance and expectations. Are You the Perfect Fit? To be successful in this role, you will bring: Cultural Competence: A proven history of building authentic, reciprocal relationships with Aboriginal students, families, and remote communities. Dual Capabilities: The agility to switch seamlessly between executive-level strategic leadership and day-to-day classroom management. Qualifications: Current TRBWA registration, a valid WWCC, and a National Police Clearance. (A TAE40122 Cert IV in Training & Assessment is highly desirable for the VET pathway; postgraduate leadership qualifications are preferred for the academic pathway).
