About the Role:

Reporting to the Head of Secondary, the Deputy Head of Secondary School (Pastoral Care) is a newly created leadership position in response to continual growth. The Deputy Head of Secondary: Pastoral Care provides visionary, strategic, and operational leadership to ensure the Secondary School is a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centred environment. This role oversees the holistic development, well-being, and behavioural framework of all secondary students, ensuring that the school’s pastoral care structures allow each student to realise their God-given potential and calling.

The position is a Permanent, Full-Time position commencing in January 2027

Spiritual Leadership & Culture – Grow in Christ

  • Ethos Alignment: Model an active, authentic Christian faith, ensuring that all student development programs reflect a Biblical worldview.
  • Discipleship: Partner with the College Chaplains to foster spiritual formation, chapel programs, and opportunities for students to commit to and walk with Jesus Christ.
  • Character Development: Lead initiatives that embed Godly values, self-discipline, and spiritual resilience into the daily lives of secondary students.

Strategic Student Wellbeing – Love Unconditionally & Live in Relationship

  • Foster a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where students feel known and valued.
  • Lead, mentor and support the Secondary Pastoral Team.
  • Build strong partnerships with families to support student wellbeing.

Restorative Student Development – Live in Relationship & Strive for Excellence

  • Oversee behaviour management and the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Proactively mitigate risks related to bullying, behavioural concerns and online safety.
  • Maintain high expectations for student conduct, presentation and relationships.
  • Oversee and coordinate the Year 7–12 camps schedule and program.

Service, Leadership & Student Voice – Equip for Service

  • Develop and oversee student leadership opportunities.
  • Promote service learning, community engagement and mission.
  • Establish feedback mechanisms that encourage meaningful student input and participation.

Compliance, Policy & Child Safety – Learn for Eternity

  • Support College child safety and well-being initiatives.
  • Ensure timeous and appropriate compliance and risk management for pastoral/camp events and activities.
  • Maintain accurate pastoral records and promote continuous improvement in pastoral data tracking and professional practice.

Key Attributes:

  • Active Christian Faith: A deep, lived commitment to the Christian faith, with a willingness to uphold, model, and actively support the College’s Statement of Faith and evangelical ethos.
  • Educational Leadership Experience: Proven leadership experience within a secondary school environment, specifically in managing pastoral care, student well-being, or year coordination.
  • Deeply Relational Communication:
  • Behaviour Management Expertise: Strong, contemporary knowledge of restorative justice, student development theories, and effective classroom/behaviour management practices.
  • Organisational & Regulatory Acumen: Comprehensive understanding of Western Australian educational standards, child safety legislation, and duty of care requirements.
  • Core Values: Alignment with the College Core Values.

Qualifications and Requirements:

You will have:

  • Current Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education (Postgraduate qualifications in Leadership, Pastoral Care, or Counselling are highly desirable).
  • Experience in the Google Environment desirable.
  • Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • Current Police Clearance (issued in the last 3 months)
    Have the right to live and work in Australia (VEVO checks will apply).
