ABOUT THE ROLE
At Cedar College, we are deeply committed to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment where every student can thrive. Our Education Support Officers (ESOs) contribute to this mission, offering personalised support to students and helping create a dynamic, inclusive classroom experience. Our Education Support Officers work within the class or classes designated by the Primary CLIC Coordinator and under the supervision of the classroom teacher/s.

Our support staff work alongside teachers to support students to experience learning in a way that meets their needs, helping them to become independent learners who develop a love of learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supporting individual or small groups of students on a broad range of educational activities as allocated by the class teacher.
• Supporting students in specialist lessons as allocated by the Primary CLIC Coordinator.
• Participating in class excursions, incursions and special events eg Sports Day; Grandparent’s Day etc.
• Adequate familiarisation with content of lessons in which support is being offered.
• Learn classroom routines, expectations, rewards and consequence systems.
• Participating in professional development courses and other learning opportunities.
• Other duties as negotiated.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Demonstrate a sincere commitment to Jesus Christ, the philosophy of Christian Education, and be actively involved in your local church.
• Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the spectrum of learning difficulties and an awareness of the types of adjustments required to support students.
• Passionate about seeing improved learning outcomes for all students.
• Be reliable and responsible in building trust within the Cedar community and acting with excellence and integrity.
• Demonstrate the ability to interact with students and colleagues in a positive, sensitive and respectful manner.
• Ability to model and develop positive relationships with students and foster their social and emotional development.
QUALIFICATIONS AND APPLICATION PROCESS
Qualifications:
• Certificate III in School-Based Education Support or Higher (Desirable)
• Current Working with Children Check
• Provide First Aid (HLTAID011)
• RRHAN-EC training (Responding to the Risk of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care training)
