Position Purpose: To deliver engaging and high-quality Humanities and Social Sciences education to students in Years 7-12.
The Position:
Brindabella Christian College is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Secondary HASS Teacher to join our dynamic, supportive, and faith-centred team. The successful applicant will inspire students in Years 7-12 to develop a deep understanding of history, geography, civics, economics, and the social world while supporting their academic, personal, and spiritual growth within a Christ-centred educational environment.
The teacher will contribute to the school’s mission by integrating faith and learning, fostering excellence in education, and nurturing students to become confident, compassionate, and responsible members of society.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, prepare, and deliver effective HASS lessons aligned with the Australian Curriculum and ACT requirements.
• Teach subjects including:
– History
– Geography
– Civics and Citizenship
– Economics and Business
– Global Studies
• Differentiate teaching practices to meet diverse student learning needs.
• Assess, monitor, and report on student achievement and progress.
• Utilise contemporary teaching methodologies and educational technologies to
enhance learning outcomes.
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management.
Selection Criteria:
1. A living Christian faith and alignment with the College’s ethos.
2. Demonstrated ability to teach secondary Humanities and Social Sciences subjects.
3. A commitment to evidence-based practice, data-informed teaching, and meaningful student engagement.
4. A team-focused mindset and willingness to collaborate within a young, dynamic, and supportive HASS faculty.
Qualifications and Requirements:
– Bachelor of Education, or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
– Current ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) registration.
– Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration.
– Eligibility to work in Australia.
– Commitment to the Christian ethos and values of the school.
