Alta-1 College Queensland is a multi-sited, independent, co-educational, Special Assistance School (SAS) for Years 7–12. We work with at-risk young people in deliberately small campus settings, providing trauma-informed, wrap-around support that empowers them to discover their identity and purpose through a recovery focused education. As a Christian organisation, we believe that every young person is made in the image of God and holds inherent and irrevocable value. We believe that every young person matters and therefore deserves safety and respect. The Opportunity

Alta-1 College QLD is a dynamic and growing Special Assistance School committed to providing transformational education for disengaged and vulnerable young people. We are seeking an Assistant Principal to join our leadership team and contribute to the ongoing leadership development of our programs across multiple campuses.

In this pivotal role, you will support the Principal in driving the College’s vision, mission and values, lead high-quality teaching and learning within a trauma-informed framework, and support student wellbeing and engagement through relational approaches. The successful applicant will demonstrate proven leadership capacity, a genuine heart for supporting at-risk youth, and the ability to equip and support staff teams to deliver excellent outcomes.

Role Purpose & Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Principal plays a critical role in the life of the college. The key areas of responsibility are:

·       Administration & Compliance

·       External Engagement    

Role Selection Criteria

Essential (applicable to all college staff):

·       Commitment to Christian faith, college values and the highest standards of professional conduct

·       Passionate about supporting at-risk and vulnerable young people towards positive growth and change  

Essential (role specific):

·       A strong understanding of trauma-informed, inclusive education practices.

·       Demonstrated ability to lead people with well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. ·       Proven capacity to deliver high-quality teaching and learning outcomes.

·       Ability to manage change in a complex, multi-site context with strong organizational and administrative capacity.  

Required Qualifications:

·       To be registered with the Queensland College of Teachers (or able to be)

·       Holder of a valid driver license
