Deputy Head of Primary

Website Waverley Christian College

Waverley Christian College is a forward thinking and culturally diverse Christian co-educational school from Kinder to Year 12. We have been providing students with a quality Christian educational experience for over 45 years. With campuses in Wantirna South and Narre Warren South, Waverley Christian College has an enrolment of over 2400 students with 400 staff across both campuses in 2025.

Following an internal promotion of a highly regarded internal leader, the Narre Warren South Campus is seeking a full-time Deputy Head of Primary, to help guide a learning culture where every student is invited to love God wholeheartedly, engage deeply in learning, serve others with compassion, and live with purpose beyond themselves.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Primary to support the daily life of the school: mentoring staff, supporting team leaders, overseeing student wellbeing and behaviour, and partnering with parents and carers in ways that build trust and shared purpose.

With a blend of leadership and teaching (currently including a small teaching allocation (0.3 FTE), your influence will be both strategic and personal — leading systems, supporting staff, and staying close to the classroom so your leadership remains grounded in what matters most.

The successful applicant must:

  • Be a thoughtful Christian leader with a heart for discipleship and formation
  • Bring proven leadership experience within a Primary setting
  • Be highly collaborative, and organised, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be a qualified teacher and hold a current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)
  • Have current First Aid qualifications and Anaphylaxis Certificate or be willing to obtain these prior to commencement.
  • Be able to show a commitment to the values and ethos of Christian education.
  • Be willing to get involved in all aspects of the College’s programs and opportunities.

Some of the benefits of working at Waverley Christian College include:

  • A range of salary packaging options
  • School fees discounts for staff whose children attend the school (after 12 months)
  • Paid parental leave
  • Flexible work opportunities
  • Wellbeing initiatives
  • Career and leadership professional development opportunities
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Friendly and collegial community to work with

All potential employees will be required to comply with the College’s Child Safety Code of Conduct, Child Safety Policy, and Student Wellbeing Policy.  We have zero tolerance for child abuse. You will be expected to contribute proactively to a culture of child safety at the College.
