About the Role
This role is to support the school in the provision of Risk and Compliance services to parents, staff, students
and the public. The Business Services Unit (BSU) of the school, to which the position is attached, is a busy
and demanding environment, staffed by a supportive and encouraging team with clear processes guiding
the day-to-day functions of the role. The BSU team serves the school by providing risk assessments for
incursions and excursions off and on-site, WHS policy and Strategy, and ensuring compliance with
government requirements. The role upholds the value of Christ-centred education, whether engaging with
external stakeholders or working internally alongside peers and other areas of the school community.
The Risk and Compliance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and compliance of
the school community. This role oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of risk
management frameworks, Work Health and Safety (WHS) systems, and compliance obligations. The
position also manages the planning and approval processes for school excursions and off-site activities,
ensuring alignment with legal requirements and the school’s Christian values.
As the Risk and Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, review, and
maintenance of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) across all school departments to ensure compliance
with safety regulations and best practices. The Risk and Compliance Manager job includes vigilance in
reviewing and updating material data and will play a critical role in risk mitigation, regulatory adherence,
and fostering a culture of safety throughout the school.
This is a full-time position (5 days a week) for 52 weeks a year including 4 weeks annual leave The Risk and
Compliance Manager is responsible directly to the People and Culture Manager, who reports to the
Business Manager being responsible to the Principal.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications and Experience
> Relevant tertiary qualifications in risk management, WHS, compliance, or a related field.
> Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational or not-for-profit
setting.
> Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, privacy, workers compensation and risk management
frameworks.
> Experience in policy development, compliance reporting, and incident investigation.
> Current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
