School Accountant/Bursar, Tanzania
The Katoke-Lweru Secondary School in north-western Tanzania is seeking a Business Manager/Bursar for a term of up to one year, to assist local staff in school finance and administration . This voluntary position (fares and allowance provided) would suit an energetic or retired person with a sense of adventure and a heart for Christian mission. Tanzania is a stable East African nation growing rapidly that welcomes assistance in areas of need.
The Katoke-Lweru Secondary School commenced in 2009 at Katoke, near Lake Victoria, and is owned by the Anglican Diocese of Lweru. The school has been built using funds from Australia and New Zealand by the Katoke Trust for Overseas Aid [www.katoke.org.au] and is committed to education in a Christian environment. It is open to all students who qualify academically, regardless of race, gender or religious background. Students from poor families are assisted with sponsorship.
The Katoke Trust was established in 1998 to help build healthier, better educated communities which will be able to support themselves through a sustained, multi-pronged attack on poverty. This concept of Mission is to ‘walk alongside people’ and assist them become self-reliant through education, health and agricultural development.
The position requires a qualified accountant who is a flexible team player with a positive approach to problem solving and decision-making. They would be responsible for assisting the local accounts and administration staff, including payroll, receivables and payables, preparation of financial statements and reports.
