Founded in 1983, Swan Christian College is a co-educational Christian school in Swan Valley, educating around 1,600 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The College focuses on developing character and academic excellence with Christ-centred education that nurtures the spiritual, academic, emotional, and social growth of every student.

Swan Christian College is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Biology Teacher to join our Secondary School teaching team. This is a full-time position commencing 1 January 2027 and is a fixed-term cover for the full year.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Deliver engaging, student-centred lessons using diverse teaching strategies that support individual learning needs.
  • Differentiate learning through targeted remediation and extension opportunities to maximise student success.
  • Track, monitor and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with parents and staff.
  • Support students to develop strong organisational, study and learning skills for academic growth.
  • Provide pastoral care as required and promote the spiritual, emotional, social and academic wellbeing of students.
  • Contribute actively to College life, upholding Christian values, participating in events and fulfilling co-curricular and operational responsibilities.

Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and is an active member of a Christian Church, living in accordance with the Association’s Statement of Faith and Educational Objectives.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, College staff and key stakeholders.
  • Communicate confidently and professionally, demonstrating outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Manage competing priorities effectively, staying organised and responsive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Show initiative, solve problems proactively and make sound decisions while working collaboratively and following direction.
  • Holds a current Working with Children Check and valid TRBWA registration or willingness to apply for one.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with a variety of teaching and learning strategies to appropriately meet students’ needs and course objectives.
  • Strategies used to communicate effectively with adults and students.
  • Experience with a variety of suitable formative and summative assessment strategies with students.
