Founded in 1983, Swan Christian College is a co-educational Christian school in Swan Valley, educating around 1,800 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The College focuses on developing character and academic excellence with Christ-centred education that nurtures the spiritual, academic, emotional, and social growth of every student.

Swan Christian College is seeking a passionate and nurturing Early Years Teacher to join our Primary School teaching team. This is a full-time position commencing 1 January 2027 and is a fixed-term contract for the full year. You will create a nurturing, play-based learning environment where every child is known, valued and supported to grow holistically.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Actively contribute to the spiritual, academic, sporting, cultural and social life of the College.
  • Deliver engaging learning programs that support student growth and cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, colleagues and the wider College community.
  • Plan, assess and monitor student learning within a biblical framework, using data to inform progress and achievement.
  • Commit to ongoing professional growth and staying current with developments in education and your teaching area.
  • Collaborate as a supportive team member while adhering to College policies, values and practices.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and is an active member of a Christian Church, living in accordance with the Association’s Statement of Faith and Educational Objectives.
  • Possesses Early Childhood teaching qualifications with strong knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework V2.0.
  • A warm, collaborative and relationship-focused approach to learning and wellbeing.
  • Can develop early literacy, numeracy, oral language and social-emotional skills in children within a play-based environment.
  • Passionate for inclusive education, nature-based learning and Christian education.
  • Holds a current Working with Children Check and valid TRBWA registration or willingness to apply for one.

Desirable Selection Criteria:
(Include where appropriate in your response)

  • Experience with Talk for Writing and Talk for Reading approaches.
  • UFLI training or experience in systematic, explicit phonics instruction.
  • An understanding of how to use intentional teaching and rich language interactions to extend children’s learning.
