Southern Hills Christian College is a K-12 Christian school in Bedfordale, Western Australia, and is part of the Swan Christian Education Association. Our staff are all committed Christians, and this belief is embedded both explicitly and implicitly in our curriculum and all that we do.

We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Learning Support Coordinator to join our team in an ongoing, part-time position commencing as soon as possible. The successful candidate will lead inclusive education initiatives by working with staff, families, and professionals to support students with diverse learning needs through effective programs, individual plans, and a culture of care.

This role consists of a 0.6 FTE administrative component and a 0.2 FTE teaching component, for a subject to be decided depending on your experience and school availability.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee the identification and support of students requiring adjustments or intervention. Coordinate and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs/PLPs).
  • Lead NCCD processes, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Support and mentor teachers in differentiation, inclusive practice, and professional learning.
  • Collaborate with parents, therapists, and external agencies to provide cohesive support.Coordinate education assistants, targeted support programs, and contribute to school-wide wellbeing, inclusion, and transition initiatives.

Selection Criteria:
Essential:

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and active involvement in a Christian church. Accept and live in accordance with the Association’s Statement of Faith, Foundational Statements of Belief, and Educational Objectives.
  • Meet the Department of Education (WA) requirements for teaching qualifications.
  • Have experience in Learning Support, Special Education, or Inclusive Education.
  • Possess a strong understanding of differentiation, adjustments, and IEP/PLP processes, with working knowledge of NCCD and disability legislation.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, and organisational skills.

  Desirable: (Include where appropriate in your response)

  • To have had experience in the advertised position.
  • To have had some experience in Christian Education.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Special Education, Learning Support, Inclusion, or a related field.
  • Experience leading or coordinating Education Assistants or support programs.
  • Knowledge of behaviour support, literacy/numeracy intervention, or enrichment.
