Southern Hills Christian College is a K-12 Christian school in Bedfordale, Western Australia, and is part of the Swan Christian Education Association. Our staff are all committed Christians, and this belief is embedded both explicitly and implicitly in our curriculum and all that we do.
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Chaplain to join us in a part-time, permanent position commencing 27 January 2027. This position will be 2 days a week, Thursday and Friday, during the school terms.
The successful candidate will provide pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and practical support, helping students feel known, valued, safe and connected. Through your commitment to Christian ministry, pastoral care, and student wellbeing, you will help create a nurturing community in which every child is supported to flourish academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Provide holistic pastoral care, wellbeing support and guidance to students’ social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs.
- Engage and support students through pastoral care programs, camps, excursions, Bible studies, assemblies and student leadership initiatives.
- Build positive relationships with students from Kindergarten to Year 12, offering care and support through personal challenges.
- Collaborate as an active member of the Pastoral Care team, helping develop support strategies for students requiring additional support.
- Support student-led Christian activities and leadership opportunities.
- Document student support interactions, report priority cases promptly, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrates a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and is an active member of a Christian Church, living in accordance with the Association’s Statement of Faith and Educational Objectives.
- Proven experience in pastoral leadership and student wellbeing.
- Strong knowledge of adolescent development, wellbeing frameworks, and restorative practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Current Working with Children Check, and Department of Education Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable Selection Criteria:

- Postgraduate study in pastoral care, counselling, or educational leadership.
- Experience leading Christian worship or mentoring young people in faith-based setting.
