English-History Teacher – Middle School

SGCS is based across two campuses in the St George region of Sydney. Our size (dual stream from K-6 and triple stream from 7-12) positions us well to know each student and enables the provision of a breadth of subject choices and co-curricular activities.

At SGCS we recognise that our students are negotiating a highly complex journey from childhood to adolescence – a journey that will have a significant impact on their learning, social development and mental health. We have therefore designed an educational environment, Middle School, where a strong sense of being known is paramount. This teaching role carries Homeroom teacher responsibilities within our Middle School.

In your role as an English/HSIE Teacher with Homeroom teacher responsibilities, you will be expected to:

• Teach English/History as the core academic subjects to your Homeroom class
• Be grounded in the diverse characteristics and needs of young people and in the teaching strategies necessary to engage them.
• Engineer teaching experiences that are authentic, connected to real life experience, challenging and engaging
• Differentiate your teaching to provide for the broad range of students in your classroom
• Provide pastoral care for students in your Home Room

All teachers are expected to be fully involved in the total school program, with other duties and responsibilities appropriate to a Middle School teacher in a K-12 Christian school.

Salary and conditions are consistent with the NSW Christian School Teaching Staff Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2021. The appointment to this position will take effect from Term 1 2026.
