The Cafe Assistant at St Andrews Christian College plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of the cafe and providing excellent service to staff and students. This position requires a proactive individual with a passion for customer service and a willingness to contribute to the overall positive atmosphere of the school environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in food preparation and presentation, ensuring high standards of quality and hygiene are maintained at all times.
• Manage inventory and supplies, including ordering, receiving, and organizing stock to ensure efficient operations.
• Provide exceptional customer service by welcoming customers, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and handling transactions accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the cafe area, including cleaning tables, equipment, and ensuring a tidy environment for customers.
• Collaborate with other cafe staff to coordinate tasks effectively and support each other during busy periods.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations while handling food items and operating equipment in the cafe.

Required Skills:

• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Basic food preparation and handling knowledge
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and cleanliness
• Ability to follow health and safety guidelines

Required Experiences:

• Prior experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential
• Familiarity with a busy kitchen environment is an advantage
• Experience working in a school or educational setting is beneficial
• Understanding of cash handling procedures and POS systems is a plus
