Position Description:
South Coast Baptist College is seeking an energetic and passionate Primary Teacher to join our Upper Primary team in a full-time, permanent role. In 2026 we will have 224 students in years 5 and 6, with over 680 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. In 2026, this position will involve working alongside classroom teachers in more than one classroom. Our Primary School provides a Christ-centred and supportive learning environment where every child is known and encouraged to thrive.
Position Requirements:
- Effective planning and documentation of the teaching and learning program for the year level taught.
- Familiarity with the Compass database for recording student information and reporting purposes.
- Meeting with relevant members of the Primary School Leadership Team to discuss classroom and student needs.
- Liaising with Primary School and support staff as required to ensure continuity of learning and student wellbeing.
- Demonstrating the ability to successfully engage children in explicit literacy and numeracy activities.
- Hold a valid teaching qualification and registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia, demonstrating a strong understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum.
- Experience in planning and delivering high-quality programs, with a focus on English, Mathematics, Science, HASS, and the Arts.
- Possess excellent classroom management skills, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of students of differing ability levels.
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, effectively collaborating with colleagues, parents, and the broader school community.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the values and ethos of an independent/private school, along with the ability to inspire and engage students in their learning.
Essential Criteria:
- To have a personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ.
- To actively be a part of a Church or Christian community and exemplify Christian beliefs, behavior, and practices.
- To accept the College’s Statement of Faith.
- Build co-operative and supportive relationships with the board, principal, staff, students and parents.
- Work to ensure personal best practice.
- Ensure that decision making is based on fact and is impartial and fair.
- Model the use of appropriate and proper channels of communication.
- Always act in the best interest of the College and its ethos.
- Adhering to all policies and procedures outlined by SCBC.
- First Aid certificate is desirable.
- Commitment to maintaining a child-safe environment in line with the College’s values and policies
- Working With Children Card.
