Position Details

It is an exciting time to join the Portside Christian College’s Early Learning Centre educational team.

We are seeking an Early Childhood Lead Educator (Diploma qualified) who wishes to belong and contribute to a warm and vibrant team that values relationship, innovation and excellence in nurturing children’s development. The Lead Educator will be part of our Leadership Team within the Centre. We are building a community that supports our families and provides safety and care for each unique child whilst fostering a love for professional learning for all our team members.

This position will be directly responsible to the College Principal through the ELC Director.

The position will commence on Monday January 13 with an extensive onboarding process and preparation lead in time for a successful start.

Permanency may be considered after the probationary period has ended for the right candidate.

Desired skills and attributes of the successful candidate include:

·                     Qualification to teach at Early Childhood level with previous teaching experience in a 3-year-old or 4-year-old learning community highly desirable

·                     Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a Teaching and Learning Team

·                     Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with students, staff and parents

·                     Proficiency in Digital Technology

·                     Demonstrated effective pedagogical practice in an ELC setting including various modes of documentation for the evaluation and assessment of children’s learning

·                     Demonstrated ability to create and engage in a respectful and collaborative learning culture

·                     Able to manage the demands of the position including administration and professional responsibilities

·                     Ability to actively contribute to the Christian life of the College community

 

Selection Criteria

1.                  A proven understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework curriculum version 2, including differentiated approaches to learning

2.                  Demonstrated pedagogical approaches to engage learners

3.                  Ability to use data to inform teaching for improved student learning

4.                  Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with parents, students and staff

5.                  Well-developed room management and communication skills that foster restorative approaches

6.                  Understanding of and ability to teach from a Christian worldview
