Head of Department – Humanties

Parklands Christian College is seeking an exceptional Christian educator and leader to lead our Humanities department in 2027.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about great teaching, committed to developing others and able to build a strong, collaborative faculty culture where both staff and students can flourish.

This is more than a curriculum leadership role. We want someone who can lead people, strengthen practice and help shape the future of Humanities at Parklands.

About the Role
The Head of Faculty: Humanities will provide professional, curriculum and people leadership across the faculty, while maintaining a teaching allocation.

The role includes:

• Leading, supporting and developing the Humanities team.
• Driving high-quality teaching, learning, assessment and curriculum.
• Building a culture of collaboration, reflection and continuous improvement.
• Using evidence and student learning data to strengthen outcomes.
• Providing clarity, accountability and professional feedback.
• Managing the planning, resourcing and operational requirements of the faculty.
• Contributing to the wider educational and strategic direction of the Secondary School.

We are not simply looking for someone to manage a faculty. We are looking for someone who can lead one.

The Leader We Are Looking For, You will:

• Be an experienced and highly effective secondary teacher with strong Humanities expertise.
• Hold relevant teaching qualifications and current Queensland College of Teachers registration.
• Be a relational leader who builds trust, develops people and holds high expectations.
• Be confident providing both encouragement and accountability, including courageous conversations when required.
• Bring energy, initiative and a genuine commitment to improving teaching and learning.
• Work collaboratively and contribute positively to the culture of the College.
• Have an active Christian faith and a genuine heart for Christian education and mission
