We consider Health and Physical Education as an integral part of a well-rounded education and are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Health and Physical Education Teacher who shares our values to join our Junior School (Prep – Year 6) team fulltime at 0.8 – 1.0 FTE, commencing in January 2026.

An earlier start date in Term 4, 2025 can be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Health and Physical Education teacher in our Junior School, you will play a crucial role in shaping the physical well-being and healthy habits of our students.

  • Teaching and Planning:
  1. Designing, implementing, and regularly updating comprehensive health and physical education curriculum in alignment with the Australian curriculum for students in Prep to Year 6.
  2. Conducting engaging and age-appropriate health and physical education classes that focus on skill development, sportsmanship and fitness.
  3. Assessing students’ progress and providing constructive feedback to support their growth, while ensuring alignment with the Australian curriculum standards and our Christian values
  4. Organise and supervise sports activities and events, with an emphasis on character development and spiritual growth.
  5. Planning and teaching Health lessons that include social-emotional learning to promote students’ overall well-being and character development.
  • Biblical Perspective: Integrate Biblical principles and a Christian worldview into the curriculum, fostering spiritual and moral development among students.
  • Upholding College Values: Demonstrate a strong commitment to upholding the values and ethos of Oxley Christian College, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a well organised and positive classroom environment conducive to learning, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and the broader school community to support the holistic development of students.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Health and Physical Education, Primary Education, or a related field (with teaching qualifications).
  • Experience teaching primary school students, preferably in an Australian Curriculum based setting.
  • Ability to teach from a Biblical perspective and integrate Christian values into teaching practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
