About the role

The Head of Faculty (English) drives the scope and sequence of the academic program and provides expert advice to the teachers within their learning area to deliver a relevant, stimulating and effective teaching program. Equipped with extensive knowledge of their specific discipline, and knowledge of contemporary teaching and learning practices, the Head of Faculty (English) will encourage a safe, stimulating and challenging environment, whilst promoting the College’s philosophy, policies and procedures.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Proven ability to lead curriculum development, implementation, and continuous improvement within an English faculty.
  • Strong instructional leadership skills, with the capability to mentor and support teachers to achieve excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum planning, assessment, moderation, and reporting practices.
    Ability to analyze and utilize student achievement data to inform teaching strategies and improve learning outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the capacity to engage effectively with students, staff, parents, and the broader College community.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage faculty resources, documentation, and competing priorities.
  • Experience leading collaborative teams and fostering a culture of professional growth, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Sound financial and resource management skills, including budget planning and oversight.
    Thorough knowledge of the Australian Curriculum, contemporary English pedagogy, and the AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers.
  • Commitment to supporting student wellbeing, academic excellence, and the Christian values and mission of the College.
