HillSide Christian College is an evangelical, Christian school located in Forrestfield, with an approximate enrolment of 460 students from 4-year-old Kindy to Year 12.

ABOUT THE ROLE
HillSide Christian College is seeking an Education Assistant with a strong interest and practical competence in Outdoor Education Programs.
This role includes active involvement in the college’s Outdoor Education and camp program, supporting student learning and wellbeing in practical outdoor settings, alongside classroom-based support within the Secondary school.
This position is initially a Fixed Term Contract for 2026:
- Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
- Full Time Equivalent: 0.6 FTE
Subject to a probationary period, it is anticipated the successful candidate will be offered an additional one-year fixed term contract with the possibility of conversion to ongoing status.
Salary is based on the College’s Education Assistants Pay Scale, which is above the Award (MA00076) rate and negotiable on qualifications and experience. Additional paid leave is granted during school vacation periods, and an overnight camp allowance will apply.
KEY EXPECTATIONS
Outdoor Education Support (Core Component)
The successful applicant will:
· Assist in the preparation and delivery of Outdoor Education programs
· Participate in and actively support excursions and overnight camps
· Assist with hiking and outdoor expedition activities
· Support canoe and water-based activities (where applicable)
· Assist in the management, preparation and maintenance of outdoor equipment
· Support staff in maintaining safe, well-organised and purposeful outdoor learning environments
· Model positive resilience, teamwork and servant leadership to students
Confidence in practical outdoor environments is essential.
Experience in hiking, canoeing, outdoor logistics, camp organisation or similar contexts will be highly regarded.
Secondary Classroom Support (Supporting Component)
In addition to Outdoor Education Responsibilities, the Education Assistant will:
· Support teaching staff in delivering curriculum across practical and core learning areas
· Assist students in small group and individual learning contexts
· Support student engagement and wellbeing
· Contribute positively to a collaborative Secondary team environment
HOW TO APPLY
Applicants should be able to demonstrate their personal faith in Jesus Christ as God and Saviour and demonstrate their active membership in an evangelical Christian Church. An applicant should be a proven performer and able to positively complement a team environment and have a desire to work within a Christian team setting.
All applicants must include:
1. Cover letter (maximum two pages) outlining:
i. Their experience in outdoor education, camps, hiking, canoeing or similar
ii. Their ability to support student learning in a secondary classroom setting
iii. Their educational philosophy within a Christian Framework
2. Current CV outlining qualifications, church membership, professional referees, contact details, and career history.
3. A written reference from a Pastor/Elder or the contact details of a Pastor/Elder who can be contacted for a verbal reference in regard to the applicant’s Christian faith, character and practice.
4. A copy of compliance documents named in the dot points below:
- a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or a willingness to obtain
- a current National Police Clearance or a willingness to obtain
Interviews and referee checks will be integral to the selection of any candidate.
