Initial One-year Fixed Term Contract

 

HillSide Christian College is an evangelical, Christian school located in Forrestfield, with an approximate enrolment of 460 students from 4-year-old Kindy to Year 12.

ABOUT THE ROLE

HillSide Christian College is seeking an Education Assistant who is a proven performer and able to positively complement a team environment for a part-time position commencing Term One, 2026.

This position is initially a Fixed Term Contract for 2026:

  • Work Schedule:                   Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
  • Full Time Equivalent:             0.6 FTE

 

Opportunity may arise to negotiate an increase in hours, up to full-time, based on staffing levels.

Subject to a probationary period, it is anticipated the successful candidate will be offered an additional one-year fixed term contract with the possibility of conversion to ongoing status.

Salary is based on the College’s Education Assistants Pay Scale, which is above the Award (MA00076) rate and negotiable on qualifications and experience.  

 

KEY EXPECTATIONS

The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting student learning and demonstrate a capacity to support teaching staff to deliver curriculum programs.  As an Education Assistant in this position, you will assist with the preparation for and participate in outdoor education camps and excursions.

Successful applicants will be practising evangelical Christians, who are able to demonstrate and work within the College’s Christian framework. Appointment to the position will be dependent upon the successful applicant accepting the College’s Code of Conduct (including Statement of Faith) and meeting all compliance requirements. Education Assistants will be expected to be able support teaching from a Christian worldview.

 

HOW TO APPLY

Applicants should be able to demonstrate their personal faith in Jesus Christ as God and Saviour and demonstrate their active membership in an evangelical Christian Church. An applicant should be a proven performer and able to positively complement a team environment and have a desire to work within a Christian team setting.

All applicants must include:

1.     Cover letter outlining their suitability for the role within the context of HillSide Christian College, in the secondary school setting (maximum two pages):

        a)     Demonstrating their experience and ability to successfully provide educational support across a range of both practical and core subjects, with a focus on:

  • Outdoor Education, including camps and excursions

        b)     Discussing their educational philosophy and how they would contribute positively to an Education Assistant role in the context of HillSide Christian College.

2.     Current CV outlining qualifications, church membership, professional referees, contact details, and career history.

3.     A written reference from a Pastor/Elder or the contact details of a Pastor/Elder who can be contacted for a verbal reference in regard to the applicant’s Christian faith, character and practice.

4.     A copy of compliance documents named in the dot points below:

  • a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or a willingness to obtain
  • a current National Police Clearance or a willingness to obtain

Interviews and referee checks will be integral to the selection of any candidate.
