Heritage Christian School (HCS) is a K-12 Christian school situated on a picturesque campus in Port Macquarie on the beautiful Mid North Coast of NSW. About the role:  

The Head of Junior School is responsible to the Principal for providing student management, curriculum, administrative and pastoral oversight and leadership to the School for Years K-6. He/she is to be an effective educator who models an understanding and strong commitment to Christian Education. A passion for educating and nurturing students in a regional setting is fundamental to this role.

Heritage Christian School has a clearly defined Teaching and Learning Framework, the Head of Junior School will lead the implementation of High Impact Teaching Strategies with this approach.

This position will start January 2026.

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications for the position and NESA teacher accreditation
  • Open affirmation, ownership and practice of the Christian faith
  • Demonstrated team oriented, collegial and collaborative Christian leadership
  • Implementation and monitoring of a Christ-centred and Bible based curriculum which enables students to learn a Christian perspective of the world
  • Knowledge of current syllabus documents and proven ability to develop contemporary teaching and learning programs
  • Demonstrated ability in using technology and data in the learning process
  • An understanding of and commitment to student wellbeing
  • First Aid qualification
  • Understanding of Designing for Deep Learning (DDL) and Transformation by Design (TbD) and Explicit instruction approaches to learning (EI)
  • Commitment to the school’s Child Safe Standards
