Time allocation:        FTE: 1.0 (full time) 0.40 Leadership; 0.60 Teaching (Negotiable)

Term:    2 years POR (ongoing Teaching Position)

Donvale Christian College:

Donvale Christian College is located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne having opened in 1975. The current enrolment is over 1500 students from Prep to Year 12 and the total number of employees is approximately 300.

Donvale Christian College is governed, as provided for in its Constitution, by the College Board. The Board are elected by the members of the College. The full range of Christian denominations is represented in the parent body of the College. There is no position on the Board elected or appointed by any single church community. The Board is totally elected by the membership of Donvale Christian College Ltd. The Principal is appointed by the Board and together they appoint staff.

Members of the Donvale Christian College community come from many different Christian faith traditions. To ensure a sense of harmony between home and School, the College has adopted a Statement of Faith based on a Christian worldview. All parents and Staff are specifically asked if their faith commitment is echoed in the words of this Statement of Faith and they are requested to indicate agreement when applying for the enrolment of their children or employment at the College.

Staff members are expected to actively support the Christian aims of the College and to be members of a Bible based worship community.

The College is committed to promoting and protecting the interests and safety of children. We have zero tolerance for child abuse. Everyone working at the College is responsible for the care and protection of children. All potential employees and volunteers will be required to comply with the College’s Child Safe Code of Conduct and the College’s Child Safe Policy. Role Description:

The Learning Technology and Innovations Leader will be committed to the College’s Christian ethos and values and will possess excellent skills in ICT, leadership and management. The person will provide leadership, direction and promote and develop the use of technology and innovations in pedagogical practices and organizational infrastructure across the College.

The core business of Donvale Christian College is to be a biblically directed learning community.  Everyone and everything in this community serves this purpose.  Each person in the College community has been gifted by God to make his or her contribution to the learning and teaching for which God has brought the College into being.

The Learning Technology and Innovations Leader will:

  • Have passion and expertise in the development of ICT learning & innovation throughout the curriculum.
  • Have proven leadership skills and experience.

  • A sound knowledge of educational trends, practices and policies.
  • Have strong organisational skills.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Learning Technology and Innovations Leaders responsibilities will include:

Leadership, Strategy and Direction

  • Having a shared vision, passion and heart for DCC culture, supporting leadership across the College.
  • Maintain, grow and nurture a positive learning and faith culture in the school.
  • Provide direction to the Director of Teaching and Learning regarding learning innovation, teaching pedagogy and the use of ICT in the classroom and use of ICT across the College.
  • Liaise with the Director of Teaching and Learning regarding the future directions of Learning and Technology.
  • Develop goals discussed and approved by the Director of Teaching and Learning.
  • Provide strategic insight into the selection, implementation and coordination of educational platforms and practices across the College.
  • Be up to date with the Digital Technologies Curriculum.

 

Support

  • Support the Head of Learning Innovations (Primary) and Head of Learning Technology and Innovation (Secondary) in leading teaching excellence and innovations in pedagogy.
  • Meet with teaching teams to provide direction and support to implement new initiatives in learning.
  • Coordinate and manage integration of staff and parent use of Schoolbox.

 

Training and Development

  • Lead or coordinate ICT Professional Development as needed.
  • Provide training, updates, and solutions for the College learning management systems to operational staff as needed.

 

Other

  • Manage existing apps and test/trial new apps that fit into the College infrastructure and classroom teaching styles.
  • Attend Professional Development relevant to staff and College ICT needs.
  • Other duties as directed.

  • Implement the programs, teaching practices and other activities as decided by the College.
  • Perform their responsibilities in a manner which reflects and responds to continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of their teams in order to meet organisational objectives. This includes demonstrating appropriate and professional workplace behaviours, helping team members if required and undertaking other key responsibilities or activities as directed by one’s supervisor.
  • Perform their responsibilities in a manner which reflects the College’s zero tolerance for child abuse and in accordance with the College’s Child Safe policies.
  • Familiarise themselves and comply with the relevant College policies including Occupational Health and Safety.

Remuneration

According to Donvale Christian College’s salary scale which is based on qualifications and experience, in addition to a paid Position of Responsibility allowance.
