Overview:
The Groundsman / Maintenance Person is responsible for maintaining the school’s buildings, grounds, and facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and well-presented environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves both outdoor and indoor work, general repairs, gardening, and assisting with event setup and school operations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain school grounds, gardens, lawns, and outdoor areas.
• Carry out general maintenance and repair work across school buildings and facilities.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify safety or maintenance issues.
• Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment safely.
• Assist with setting up and packing down for school events or activities.
• Manage waste disposal, recycling, and cleanliness of outdoor areas.
• Work collaboratively with staff to support the smooth running of school operations.
Skills and Attributes:
• Practical maintenance, gardening, or handyman skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safety and following school policies and procedures.
• Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various conditions.
Qualifications:
• Trade or maintenance background (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical).
• Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
• First Aid Certificate.
• Driver’s licence.
