Chairo Christian School is a non-denominational Christian school with 1,900 Kinder to Year 12 students attending five picturesque campuses in West and South Gippsland, the Latrobe Valley and the south-eastern outskirts of Melbourne.
Our mission is to provide excellence in Christ-centred education in partnership with families within a caring Christian community. In doing this, we aim to prepare students thoroughly for further study, careers, service and life in general.
We are currently seeking to appoint a Head of Libraries (ongoing teaching contract with initial three-year position of responsibility) to commence in January 2026.
The Head of Libraries is an important position of responsibility within Chairo’s management structure, assisting the Executive Principal by leading Christ-centred library innovation across all campus libraries.
As a respected teacher and librarian, the Head of Libraries will provide professional leadership to library staff members whilst fostering an environment conducive to a love of reading and critical engagement with literature. They will lead by setting a godly example to all staff members and students in their teaching and administration practice, relationships and lifestyle.
Having obtained relevant tertiary qualifications in education and library services, and being registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, the successful candidate will be a professional practitioner who possesses the following important characteristics:
· Active Christian lifestyle and demonstrated agreement with Chairo’s Statement of Faith
· Post-graduate qualifications (desirable)
· Experience in an educational and/or library leadership position
· Sound knowledge of current educational practices and teaching from a Christian worldview perspective
· Thorough working knowledge of library services within a school environment and how the library supports teaching and learning objectives
· Understanding and current knowledge of literacy, curriculum and information skills, including trends in literature and digital literacy
· Ability to build strong partnering relationships and communication channels with all members of the school community
