Primary Diverse Learning Coordinator

Cedars is a Prep to Year 12 independent private school with approximately 800 students located just 10 kilometers south of Wollongong in the heart of the beautiful Illawarra.

Primary Diverse Learning Coordinator 

A permanent position (0.8 – 1.0 FTE, negotiable) exists for a successful applicant who has the following qualifications and experience:

• Relevant teaching qualifications and academic accreditation with NESA
• Post Graduate qualifications in Special Education (or willingness to attain)
• In depth knowledge of, and model adherence to, the NCCD and associated reporting and recording requirements
• Experience in the facilitating testing for students nominated through the College referral protocols
• Adjusting curriculum or approaches to learning and teaching, considering the individual needs of a student
• Leading the development of individual Student Plans, including teaching and learning strategies for the classroom and specialist teachers and teaching aides
• Providing professional support for classroom teachers in creating an inclusive curriculum
• Providing direct, explicit, and intensive teaching for students with specific needs
• An understanding of how students learn through effective classroom teaching strategies and the capacity to work with colleagues to continually improve teaching and learning
• Ability to provide professional learning, coaching, and support to build staff capability in inclusive practice
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, critical analysis and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritise and work as part of a team
• Willingness to participate in the extracurricular life of the College
• Ability to build a strong rapport with students, parents and staff

The Primary Diverse Learning Coordinator will demonstrate proactive and strategic leadership, implementing programs to optimise learning opportunities for all students. This role coordinates and supports the effective delivery of programs including extension and enrichment, integration of students with learning disabilities and remediation programs.
