Position Title: Classroom Education Support Officer- High School

Commencing: 26/10/2026

Type: Casual Opportunity

Hours of Work: School hours, must have flexible availability, term time only

Reports to: CANOPY Coordinator

FTE Salary: Commensurate with qualifications & experience

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Education Support Officers (ESOs) contribute to this mission, offering personalised support to students and helping create a dynamic, inclusive classroom experience. Our Education Support Officers work within the class or classes designated by the High School CANOPY Coordinator and under the supervision of the classroom teacher/s.

DETAILS SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION:

Our support staff work alongside teachers to support students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting individual or small groups of students on a broad range of educational activities as allocated by the class teacher.
  • Supporting students in specialist lessons as allocated by the CANOPY Coordinator.
  • Participating in class excursions, incursions and special events.
  • Adequate familiarisation with content of lessons in which support is being offered.
  • Learn classroom routines, expectations, rewards and consequence systems.
  • Participating in professional development courses and other learning opportunities.
  • Other duties as negotiated.

Personal Requirements:

  • Demonstrate a sincere commitment to Jesus Christ, the philosophy of Christian Education, and be actively involved in your local church.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the spectrum of learning difficulties and an awareness of the types of adjustments required to support students.
  • Passionate about seeing improved learning outcomes for all students.
  • Be reliable and responsible in building trust within the Cedar community and acting with excellence and integrity.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact with students and colleagues in a positive, sensitive and respectful manner.
  • Ability to model and develop positive relationships with students and foster their social and emotional development.

Necessary Qualifications and Checks:

  • Certificate III in School-Based Education Support or higher (desirable) or a relevant tertiary degree, or currently undertaking university study.
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Provide First Aid (HLTAID012)
  • RRHAN-EC training (Responding to the Risk of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care training) prior to commencing employment at Cedar College.
  • Protective Practices (can be completed upon commencement)
