ABOUT THE ROLE
The purpose of the Compliance Officer role is to ensure that the school operates within relevant legal, regulatory, and policy frameworks by supporting the implementation and monitoring of compliance, risk management, and governance practices. The role contributes to a safe, well-managed, and accountable environment by assisting with the development and review of policies and procedures, supporting risk mitigation strategies, and facilitating administrative elements of human resources processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee risk and compliance processes, including WHS and Child Protection
- Maintain compliance with SA Registration Standards and AISSA requirements
- Coordinate and update Critical Incident and Emergency Management Plans
- Develop and manage College-wide policies and review schedules
- Lead risk assessments for excursions, camps, and school activities
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes, advising leadership accordingly
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and exit processes for staff
- Ensure accurate and secure HR records and systems (HRIS)
- Provide advice on employment, industrial relations, and performance matters
- Coordinate compliance training for staff and manage reporting tools
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to uphold a safe and well-governed school environment
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- High-level literacy and numeracy skills.
- Proficiency in ICT, including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and relevant web-based platforms.
- Strong administrative and organisational capabilities.
- Experience and/or understanding of policy and procedure development and documentation.
- Experience and/or understanding of human resource management processes.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- High-level problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- The ability to achieve outcomes while maintaining empathy and consideration for others.
- A capacity to manage sensitive matters with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
- The ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Current RHHAN-EC Certificate (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care).
- Current WWCC (Working with Children Check).
