BRIEF DESCRIPTION, GENERAL TO ROLE

Key Responsibilities: The Primary School HPE Teacher’s key responsibility is to develop and deliver engaging PE and Health lessons, promote physical activity and wellbeing, assess student progress, organise school sports events, ensure safety, and collaborate with staff to support holistic student development.

Personal Requirements: Bachelor of Primary Education or equivalent, along with a desire to implement evidence-based teaching approaches. You will need to demonstrate a sincere commitment to Jesus Christ, the philosophy of Christian Education, and be actively involved in your local church.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Primary School Health & PE Teacher is responsible for designing and implementing health lessons, as well as physical education programs that enhance students’ knowledge, safety, physical and emotional development, coordination, and fitness.

We are seeking an enthusiastic teacher with a diverse repertoire of teaching techniques suited to both classroom and outdoor settings. The successful applicant will teach all aspects of the Health and PE curriculum, including health and safety components, as well as physical activities covering a range of sports, exercises, and games, fostering motor skills, teamwork, and fair play. This involves planning lessons that accommodate different skill levels, assessing student progress, and encouraging a positive attitude towards physical activity.

This role also includes ensuring a safe learning environment, managing equipment, and contributing to organising school sports events, such as sports days and extracurricular activities.

The teacher serves as a role model, promoting health, wellness, and an active lifestyle among young students.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

• Approved teacher education qualification, registered as a teacher in South Australia.
• A current Working with Children Check.
• A current RRHAN-EC certificate (Responding to the Risk of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care training).
• Protective Practices online course completion.
