Casino Christian School (CCS) is an exciting, growing K-12 school of 320 students. Located in the peaceful, semi-rural setting of North Casino we provide families from Casino, the regional centre, Lismore, and the town of Kyogle, with an opportunity for high quality, Christian education. We provide a secure and caring learning environment that meets the needs of a diverse range of learners. The school is governed by the Presbyterian Church of NSW and affiliated with both Christian Schools Australia and the Association of Independent Schools NSW.

The applicant will have:

·        A sound understanding of the authentic integration of a Christian worldview in all KLA’s.

·        A commitment to the Science of Reading and the Explicit Instruction pedagogical framework

·        Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines

·        Teaching Qualifications from a higher education institution within Australia or as recognised within the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition guidelines.

·        Appropriate registration with NESA.

·        A current Working with Children Check.

Role Statement:

Learning Support Team Leader

The Learning Support Team Leader is responsible to the Principal of Casino Christian School and works
collaboratively with the key executive staff including the Deputies, Heads of School and Faculty Leaders.
This is a key member of the Executive Team.

This is a permanent position in accordance with the Independent Schools NSW/ACT Standards Mode/ (Teachers)
Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2021(2). Applicants need to be a registered teacher with NSW NESA.


The Learning Support Team Leader is required to:
• Support and implement the vision for the school
• Work collaboratively with the Wellbeing and Welfare Teams
• Ensure a high-Quality inclusive learning program and implement best practice teaching and
o Strategies for students with disabilities with a focus on three key areas:
o Academic skills
o Social Skills
o Skill for living
• engage in professional reading and development as part of an expectation of continual
professional learning
• actively support the Christian ethos of Casino Christian School and adhere to the Statement of
Faith and Terms of Ministry
• abide by the Staff Code of Conduct and other School policies
• attend various Functions that take place In the School community in support of colleagues, and
• other tasks as required by the Principal from time to time


The Learning Support Team Leader will:
• have a sound knowledge of the requirements of the NESA Life skills syllabus documents
• have a sound knowledge of and experience teaching evidence-based teaching practises to
promote the acquisition and learning of literacy and numeracy skills in students with support
• work collaboratively with teachers and manage the SLSO Team and their day to day roles
• provide direct instruction and support to staff, individuals and groups of students
• implement strategies to enhance students’ social, interpersonal and communication skills
• apply a range of appropriate pedagogies to meet the learning needs of students with disabilities
and demonstrate experience working with neurodiverse students with specific learning and
behavioural needs
• administer diagnostic assessments (formal and informal) to identify individual learning needs and
measure progress
• maintain accurate records of student assessment achievement and progress
• promote active learning in the classroom by:
• implementing strategies that are conducive to a supportive learning environment
• differentiating programs in response to individual student learning needs
o creating effective individual education plans and programs
o creating effective individual behaviour plans and programs
o employing strategies that connect classroom learning to the real world
• apply current knowledge and skills related to a range of information and communication
technologies to meet educational outcomes in the classroom including the use of assistive
technologies for students with disabilities
• work cooperatively with families, school staff and external agencies (where appropriate)’
• to develop individual education and behaviour plans for students in the program


The Learning Support Team Leader will:
• provide a duty of care and foster the personal wellbeing for all students
• know each student in the teachers care, in order to encourage the spiritual, social, emotional and
academic growth of the student f
• foster the personal wellbeing of student by attending to their Ccncerns and referring them to
appropriate others as required
• maintain confidentiality in all matters concerning students and their families
• ensure that students adhere to the Schools Standards as outlined in the Student Handbook and
to seek advice as needed in applying and maintaining the standards
• supervise students on duty in the playground and school grounds
• attend camps, excursions as required
• undertake co-curricular activities at the discretion of the Principal

• To be supportive of the schools aims, initiatives, policies and practices, including a commitment
to the Standard Terms of Ministry and the Statement of Faith
• To possess excellent administration, organisation, time management and interpersonal skills
• To have appropriate teaching qualifications or experience in the area of Special Education
recognised by NESA
• To have an ability and willingness to deal respectfully and effectively with a wide variety of people
from a number of different cultural groups
• To actively and regularly communicate and liaise with parents and allied health professionals
regarding students’ learning needs
• To be flexible and adaptable within the learning environment
• To attend scheduled professional development meetings and days, Faculty Meetings, weekly Staff
Briefings and Academic Staff meetings
• To attend Casino Christian School Open Day, Speech Day and Luncheon
• To attend appropriate events throughout the year

Essential Skills/Qualifications
• Tertiary Degree in Education (Special Education qualification preferred).
• Current Teacher Registration with Teachers Registration Board NESA.
• Experience working with students with Autism and/or other Intellectual disabilities.
• First Aid Certificate.
• High level of attention to detail.

Remuneration will be determined according to your years of experience in relation to the
NSW Christian Schools Teaching Staff Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2021 and banding scales, along with appropriate leadership loadings.
