Business Manager We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Business Manager to manage the non educational operations of the school

The school: Casino Christian School (CCS) is an exciting, growing K-12 school of 350+  students. Located in the peaceful, semi-rural setting of North Casino we provide families from Casino, the regional centre, Lismore, and the town of Kyogle, with an opportunity for high quality, Christian education. We provide a secure and caring learning environment that meets the needs of a diverse range of learners. The school is governed by the Presbyterian Church of NSW and affiliated with both Christian Schools Australia and the Association of Independent Schools NSW.

About the role:  The position of Business Manager is a critical role within the life of the school.  Operations of the non educational staff of the school must be efficient, God honouring and consistent with the school’s vision to provide Christ centred education in a learning community that seeks to honour Christ in all aspects of operations. As leader of the non teaching staff the Business Manager is expected to contribute to the provision of quality finance, administration and support services, provide effective administration and management of the school’s financial resources and business functions.  Contribute to the financial sustainability of the school and achievement of its vision, mission and strategic direction and corporate performance goals.   The Business Manager oversees all operational and financial activities of the School , and is responsible for the daily management of finance, administration, grounds staff and bus drivers.

Essential Criteria The applicant will:

  • Be a committed Christian and an active member of a protestant church.
  • Have demonstrated experience in dealing appropriately with highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Be qualified in accounting or relevant business discipline or experience equivalent to this qualification.
  • Experience in an educational environment will be highly regarded
  • Be eligible to hold or have a current NSW Working with Children Check.

Business Manager – Position Description
 

Primary objective:
Play a part in the ministry of Casino Christian School (CCS) and sharing the Gospel; partnering with parents/carers and the Church and teaching and modelling Christian faith to students, as well as representing the School to those both inside and outside the School community. Specifically, in your role and responsibility to leading the financial management, corporate services and ongoing development of the School. The role is integral in the Senior Leadership of the School.

Professional:

• Appropriate qualifications or recognised credentials / experience
• Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance
• Preferred: Current First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis Certifications.
• Preferred: Experience in working for a not for profit organisation.

Key Tasks

The Business Manager is
• directly involved in the development of the school’s Strategic Plan
• responsible to the Principal for financial planning and controls to fulfil the Strategic Plan
• responsible to uphold and implement the vision of the school
• responsible for the accounting and financial operation of the school
• responsible to ensure the school facilities are well maintained
• is responsible for corporate planning and development

Policies & Procedures, Risk Management program , Staff Learning Modules

  • Using the product Complispace, this includes, but is not limited to
  • Advise, develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, forms and templates, record keeping and training to ensure legislative, regulatory and registration compliance across all areas of the School. For example, Child Protection, Privacy, Governance, Risk and Complaints Handling
  • Implement an annual schedule of Policy and Procedure reviews
  • Managing the CompliSpace platform (including PolicyConnect, Assurance and CompliLearn). The aim for this platform is to have all policies in one location. Managing the platform includes training of staff in policies and procedure
  • Keep an up-to-date knowledge of relevant compliance requirements and regulations
  • Track and follow up completion of Compliance training by staff

  • Liaise with Federal and State Government agencies
  • Lodgement of all Federal and State Government required forms and returns
  • Liaise with Auditors
  • Liaise with financial institutions
  • Liaise with AIS, CSA and other Christian schools
  • Oversee Administration
  • Oversee Property and Maintenance
  • Oversee the Schools bus fleet and operations
  • Oversee Information Technology
  • Oversee Human Resources
  • Responsible for the direction and wellbeing of the administrative, grounds and bus staff
  • Ensure proper documentation and professional development occurs
  • Oversee the development and marketing of the school
  • Works closely with the Finance staff to ensure financial planning and reporting is of a high standard ensuring reports are concise, visual and clear so information is effectively communicated.
  • To fulfil any duties as directed by the Board
  • Develop capital projects as required by the strategic plan and at the Principals direction, managing planning and funding for the projects.
  • Manage approved capital projects and works as per approved budgets and complete all required documentation.
  • Provide effective demographic and enrolment analysis to inform future planning
  • Research potential funding opportunities, including government and private
  • Attend School Board Meetings and Sub-committees as required
  • Oversee tuition fee management and invoicingOversee rebates and fee structure
  • Actively follow up on fee payment defaults and laisse with the collection agency as required
  • Oversee data collection and publication of Annual Report

Involvement in School life

  • Attend meetings as required
  • Be available outside of normal operating times (8.00am – 4.00pm)
  • Engage in community events to promote the school.
  • Attend Board Sub-committee and Board Meetings as required
  • Attend school functions e.g. Presentation Evenings, as required
