Director of Sport | P–12 | Build Our Sporting Future
Carmichael College is a Prep to Year 12 co-educational, non-denominational Christian College situated in Morayfield. The College was established in 2015 and is enjoying steady growth with student number anticipated to reach around 1,100 in 2027.
An opportunity to build, lead and shape the future of sport across our College.
Are you passionate about the power of sport in Christian Education to develop character, build community and create opportunities for young people to thrive?
Do you have the vision and leadership capability to build a connected, ambitious and inclusive sporting program that will inspire students from Prep through to Year 12?
Carmichael College is seeking an enthusiastic and strategic Director of Sport to establish and lead the next chapter of our extracurricular sporting program. This is a newly created, whole-College leadership position offering the opportunity to shape our sporting culture, develop athlete pathways and position sport as a defining feature of the Carmichael College experience.
About the opportunity
This is an opportunity to build a program, establish a vision and create a sustainable sporting framework that supports students at every stage of their College journey.
Working closely with the Heads of School and wider leadership team, you will lead the strategic development, coordination and growth of extracurricular sport across Prep to Year 12. You will bring together participation, competition, coaching, athlete development and representative pathways within a cohesive program that reflects the College’s Christian mission and values.
You will have the opportunity to build on existing sporting opportunities while identifying new possibilities for students, developing strong external partnerships and establishing the systems, structures and culture needed for long-term success.
The role is focused on extracurricular sport and athlete development, rather than curriculum-based Health and Physical Education.
What you will do
Lead the vision. Develop and implement a whole-College Sport Strategy that establishes clear priorities, creates opportunities for growth and positions sport as a valued pillar of the College’s educational offering.
Build sporting pathways. Create connected opportunities for students to progress from participation and foundational skill development through to school teams, competitive sport, representative opportunities and advanced athlete development.
Develop a strong sporting culture. Foster a culture of participation, teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship, personal growth and excellence, where students are encouraged to discover their potential and contribute to their teams and College community.
Grow opportunities for students. Explore new sports, specialist coaching, development programs, sporting academies, clinics and partnerships with local clubs and sporting organisations.
Lead people and partnerships. Coordinate and support coaches, sporting personnel and volunteers, while building productive relationships with students, families, sporting associations and external providers.
Oversee program delivery. Lead the planning and coordination of sporting activities, competitions, events, facilities, equipment, transport, budgets and operational requirements.
Champion safety and wellbeing. Establish high standards for safeguarding, risk management, supervision, inclusion and student wellbeing across all sporting activities.
Celebrate and promote sport. Showcase student participation, sporting achievements and development, strengthening pride in the College and its sporting community.
Drive continuous improvement. Use participation data, feedback and program evaluation to identify opportunities, measure progress and guide future investment.
