Head of Year & Humanities Teacher

The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Head of Year 7 & Humanities Teacher to join our dynamic team, commencing January 2025.  This position is ongoing full-time dual role which encompasses of 0.6 teaching and 0.4 FTE administration.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to the growing Humanities department, implementing innovative teaching practices and working collaboratively with colleagues to enhance student engagement and success.

This leadership person is a dedicated Lower Secondary School Humanities teacher who thrives on building strong relationships with students in guiding their academic and personal development, and creating an engaging, inquiry-based learning environment.

About the Role

In addition to your Head of Year 7 responsibilities, you will also teach Lower Secondary School Humanities subjects. As Head of Year you will be responsible for overseeing the pastoral care, well-being, and development of Year 7 students, ensuring they are supported holistically in their academic and personal journeys.

• Mentoring students, working closely with parents and staff. Implementing programs that support positive behavior, social-emotional development, and a strong sense of community.
• Deliver an engaging and thought-provoking curriculum that encourages students to explore the world, think critically, and engage with global and local issues.
• Experience with programs such as AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and Visible Learning is highly desirable to support student learning and foster academic excellence.
• Providing pastoral leadership, guiding students’ academic and personal development.
• Delivering high-quality, inquiry-based Humanities lessons for Lower Secondary School students.
• Mentoring and supporting students, fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture.
• Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement Humanities programs aligned with the College’s mission and strategic goals.
