Caloundra Christian College is seeking an energetic, strategic and passionate Head of HPE & Sport to lead our Years 7–12 HPE program and shape the continued growth of our College sporting culture.
This is an opportunity to combine your passion for teaching, leadership and sport – developing staff, inspiring students and creating sporting opportunities that cater for participation, performance and everything in between.

The role
The Head of HPE & Sport is a key middle-leadership position within our Secondary Learning Community, providing leadership across both the academic HPE program and the College’s sporting and co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
The role will involve leading and mentoring HPE teaching staff, overseeing curriculum, assessment and reporting, developing a comprehensive and inclusive sporting program, coordinating with the Primary Sports Coordinator for major College sporting events and carnivals, as well as developing pathways for students seeking higher levels of sporting participation and achievement.
You will also build strong relationships with sporting associations, external coaches, local sporting organisations, families and the wider community, while ensuring high standards of safety, risk management and child protection across all HPE and sporting activities.
This is a Head of Department/teaching position with a Position of Added Responsibility (PAR).
Motivated and experienced applicants will:
* Hold tertiary qualifications in Education, with a major in Physical Education/Health, or equivalent;
* Bring significant experience in HPE curriculum leadership and sporting program management;
* Demonstrate strong knowledge of Australian Curriculum Version 9 HPE and relevant QCAA Senior Secondary pathways;
* Have proven experience leading, mentoring and developing teaching staff;
* Have experience planning and coordinating major sporting events and whole-school carnivals;
* Demonstrate strong organisational, strategic planning, time management and problem-solving skills;
* Have experience managing sporting budgets, facilities, equipment and external providers;
* Demonstrate a strong understanding of WHS, risk management and child safety requirements;
* Communicate effectively and professionally with students, staff, families, sporting associations and the wider community;
* Demonstrate the ability to develop a positive, inclusive and high-performing sporting culture;
* Hold current, unrestricted Queensland Teacher Registration;
* Hold current First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis certification;
* Be eligible to work in Australia.
