ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Wongutha CAPS is a Christian Boarding School for Year 11 and 12 Aboriginal students who predominantly come from remote towns and communities throughout Western Australia. The school is committed to supporting students’ health and well-being needs to enable them to effectively engage in the education and training opportunities available at the school. The organisation is actively seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Boarding Manager.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE 

Wongutha CAPS Christian Boarding School is now actively seeking an enthusiastic Boarding Manager to join their team, with the view to commence at the beginning of Term 1, 2025. The successful applicant will be accountable for the effective leadership and day-to-day management of predominantly the girl’s boarding house (15 – 19 yrs), supervision and guidance to the boarding supervisors and the safety and welfare of the boarding students. This position lends itself to someone who is invested in the community, a good communicator and seeks to work collaboratively. The role would require being on call for both male and female boarding houses after school hours for 7 days on then 7 days off.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Effectively manage and maintain the day-to-day operations of the Wongutha CAPS boarding program, ensuring efficient and effective management and operation of the boarding houses
  • Provide a visible presence, ensuring the connection between the boarding staff and the day school staff
    Work with the Boarding staff team to develop and implement strategies for effective management of student behaviour
  • Create and manage the shift roster of the Boarding Supervisors
  • Attend and participate in meetings scheduled with the Senior Management Team, Boarding Team Meetings and others
  • Regular communication with parents, guardians, and carers
  • Attend community events when required
  • Responsible for the Boarding budget

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties. You will be expected to perform different tasks to meet the organisation’s objectives.

  • Impeccable time management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and the ability to balance competing priorities
  • Current LR License and current Passenger Transport Drivers authorisation

Ability to:

  • Actively engage with the pupils of Wongutha CAPS Boarding School
  • Provide well-being support for the pupils of Wongutha CAPS Boarding School
  • Provide and support Christian pastoral care and discipleship
  • Lead by example and empower the Boarding team members in their professional development
  • Work collaboratively with the Boarding team, WHS team, Facilities Manager, Business Manager, and the Principal
  • Be proactive in caring for the needs of Wongutha CAPS students and Boarding staff
  • Work autonomously and in team environments
  • Build strong relationships and empower others

The successful applicant will be subject to the Federal Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
