ABOUT THE POSITION

An opportunity has arisen for a highly capable Learning Assistant to join our enthusiastic, close knit Learning Support team in our Secondary School on a casual basis.  Working in Learning Support is a very rewarding role with our Learning Support staff having a high level of positive impact on our students on a day-to-day basis. Employment will be during school terms only and the applicant should have availability to work across the week and the timeframe 8:45am – 3:30pm.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have capacity to actively engage with students across a variety of year levels.
  • Be a Christian role model and be able to demonstrate an active faith to students and to all people associated with the School.
  • Have a current employee Working with Children Check (or be willing to obtain one).
  • Have a strong knowledge of and commitment to Child Safety principles and be willing to commit to ongoing learning in this area.
  • Actively support and adhere to the School’s vision, mission and ethos.

A Certificate III or IV in Education Support and experience working with at-risk children would be advantageous, but is not essential. If the applicant does not have the Certificate in Education Support, the successful applicant will have a willingness to commence this training within the first 12 months.

Current First Aid training qualifications are also desirable.

All applicants will undergo rigorous reference, background and identity checking.  Child safety and protection is a shared responsibility between the School, all staff, workers, contractors, associates, visitors and members of the community (including parents and students that attend the School). As such, all potential employees will be required to comply with the School’s Policies including the Child Safety & Wellbeing Policy.

The person in this role will be responsible for taking all practical measures to ensure that the School’s Child Protection Policies are implemented and upheld. This role contributes to a strong child protection culture within the School.
