College Context
Alta-1 College Queensland is a multi-sited, independent, co-educational, Special Assistance School (SAS) for Years 7–12. We work with at-risk young people in deliberately small campus settings, providing trauma-informed, wrap-around support that empowers them to discover their identity and purpose through a recovery focused education. As a Christian organisation, we believe that every young person is made in the image of God and holds inherent and irrevocable value. We believe that every young person matters and therefore deserves safety and respect. We are committed to creating relationally healthy environments that promote safety, wellbeing, transformation and flourishing in the lives of our students.
Child Safe Statement
Alta-1 College is committed to providing a child-safe environment which safe-guards all students and is committed to promoting practices which provides safety, wellbeing and welfare of our children and young people. See www.alta-1.com.au for more information.
The Opportunity
Alta-1 College QLD is growing in response to the increasing need for quality education alternatives for young people who are at-risk of educational disengagement and negative life outcomes. The college delivers a model that has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of young people across the last decade in Queensland. Our vision to see lives changed “one-at-a-time” as well as our mission to “transform communities through justice, knowledge recovery and hope” are the other key drivers that underpin our desire to reach more young people. This season of growth is both exciting and challenging and staff joining the college will need to carry a genuine heart for at-risk young people, a willingness to work closely with others in team and a capacity to navigate change flexibly. While there are dynamic elements to our current season the college operates from a strong base of a decade of operation and has a consistent, passionate and community-minded staff team. As a staff member at Alta-1, you will never feel alone.
For the first time in 2026 the college will employ dedicated Youth Worker roles across three of our programs (Middle School, QCIA and Senior Program). This represents an exciting opportunity in the college and a positive development in our overall student wellbeing structure. Youth Workers will report directly to campus/program leaders but will also function as members of the broader Student Services Team (which includes counsellors and a Guidance Officer). Youth Workers will become the first point of contact and tier of wellbeing intervention for presenting student needs on each location. Those with a minimum Cert IV in Youth Work & Chaplaincy (or equivalent qualification) are encouraged to apply. Experience in working with at-risk youth will be advantageous.
